HALO Radio Frequency Ablation

Barrett's Oesophagus - Detection and Treatment

Barrett's tissue can now be removed in a short, safe endoscopic procedure which offers an active treatment for patients with Barrett's Oesophagus. The proprietary technology incorporated in the HALO Radio Frequency Ablation system is designed to maximize clinical outcomes and completely remove the Barrett's epithelium without significantly damaging the underlying tissue. This leading-edge technology results in fast, straightforward, uniform treatment:

HALO Radio Frequency Ablation:

Barrett's Oesophagus is a precancerous condition of the lining of the oesophagus, commonly caused by chronic gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, or GORD.

The HALO ablation technology is designed to treat and circumferentially remove the diseased oesophageal lining referred to as Barrett's Oesophagus, without harming the underlying tissue layers. This short, well-tolerated endoscopic procedure offers an alternative to "watchful waiting" for patients with intestinal metaplasia, low-grade dysplasia and high-grade dysplasia.

The HALO technology consists of two different devices; the HALO360+ ablation catheter and the HALO90 focal ablation device.

The balloon-based HALO360+ device is capable of treating larger areas of circumferential Barrett's Oesophagus. The HALO90 focal ablation device is used to treat smaller areas and can be used as a secondary treatment after ablation with the HALO360+.
